Affordable Housing Development Breaks Ground Near Denver Union Station

Affordable Housing Development Breaks Ground Near Denver Union Station

Affordable housing is coming to one of Denver's priciest neighborhoods. Ashley Union Station, a $30 million, 107-rental unit housing development, broke ground earlier this month.

The project, located at 18th and Chestnut Place, will include 75 units reserved for low- and moderate-income households.

"It's critically important that residents of all income levels benefit from the new housing that is quickly sprouting in the Denver Union Station area," Mayor Michael Hancock said. "A new community is literally rising in the Central Platte Valley, and we're proud to say that hard-working families can access urban living within steps of our major transit hub, benefiting from connections to the entire metro area."

The four-story building will include a rooftop terrace, bike repair station, covered parking and ground-level retail space. Completion is expected in early 2017.
